Founding President, American Institute of Chemical Engineers Student Chapter

Samantha is a fresh graduate in Chemical and Environmental Engineering (HKUST). She founded this AIChE-HKUST Student Chapter during her final year in undergraduate studies (2014), aiming at organizing various activities focusing on professional and personal development of all students in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBME). It also serves as a platform to encourage sharing and interactions among students from different backgrounds, CBME faculty members, and also professional engineers.
She had extensive experiences in leadership, previously served as the Head Student Ambassador and Core Peer Mentor (School of Engineering) of HKUST. She is the dual winner of the HK Top 10 Outstanding Youth and Social Service Award this year, jointly organized by the Home Affairs Bureau and the Commission on Youth, to commend youths with impressive achievement in personal development, leadership and social service.
Her passion for international relations brought her to represent Hong Kong as one of the 10 representatives from all over the world to work at the United Nations Headquarters, New York in Summer 2014 on health and environmental literacy. She reflected on how the valuable experience inspired her to work as a Graduate Environmental Engineer at an international consultancy now. Making positive change in the world, through social entrepreneurship and leadership, is her goal in life.
