Turzo - President

Hello there! My name is Turzo and I come from a beautiful and serene country called Bangladesh. As I progressed through my high-school years, I came across Chemical Engineering through one of my seniors and discovered how beautifully it impacted our lives. It was an eureka moment when I saw what how a Chemical Engineer impacted everything around us: from the silicon chips to potato chips, from non-newtonian toothpaste fluid to the incomplete combustion of diesel fuel.

I am currently a senior in the CBE department with a focus in Chemical and Environmental Engineering. Although I am an international student, I love delving myself into the local culture. Hotpot is one of my favourite hangout activity. I love travelling and learning about new things through social interactions. So please feel free to approach me anytime and we can definitely chat over iced tea. Currently, I am really interested in the role of technology and materials in solving some of the most pressing issues of the 21st century. I want to use my expertise to work towards a sustainable future in a safe process environment.

I believe I have grown a lot professionally over the last year through AIChE HKUST. I was able to connect and learn from my fellow Chemical Engineers and apply the skills that I learnt during classes to real life scenarios. Opportunities were endless: from Chem-E-Car to the Annual Student Conference to the Presidency and many more. It has taught me vital lessons in handling dynamic working conditions and managing interpersonal relations. Hence, I encourage you to embark on this beautiful journey and be a part of this student chapter.

Nathan - Vice President

My name is Nathan, a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering student born and raised in Hong Kong. In my spare time, I take it as my mission to help out our fellow students, which is why I decided to take on the role as Vice-President, and various other roles like being the Teaching Assistant for the department. As a member of the student chapter, I hope that Chemical Engineering could be a well-recognized and noble profession in Hong Kong so that people would appreciate the perks of being a Chemical Engineer.

Allyson - Vice President

Hello, I’m Allyson. A third year student enrolled in the Dual Degree program. I have always been interested in environmental preservation or anything related to sustainability, and that is why I chose Chemical engineering. Growing up in Malaysia has exposed me to a mélange of cultures and values, as well as teaching me the value and importance of the tropical rainforests. I hope to protect and preserve these habitats by utilizing what chemical engineering has to offer.
